SUMMER SYNDROME

“Strictly Costume Party”. Potato Head Beach Club’s main episode of summer party presenting Empire of the Sun was cerebrated by more than 3500 guests wearing various kinds of costume from all over the world. We were preparing for something BIG, not quite like any other experience in the past that Bali had seen, literally. The Highlight of the Inaugural Potato Head Beach Club Summer Syndrome was… EMPIRE OF THE SUN.

A stage show somewhat reminiscent of a Theatrical Carnival, front man Luke Steele delivered the goods to what has been billed by our peers as the Best Live Stage Performance this tiny island has witnessed in a very long time. It was a visual treat, which combining with the unique signature tune that is EOTS, delivered a memorable evening. The ambiance was on fire and the 3500 strong crowd, dressed in various costumes of vivid colors, in a forest of feather draped individuals.

At 0 am when the performance of The Empire of the Sun started, the groove of 3500 guests hit a peak. Their debut album titled “Walking on a Dream” released in October 2008, to date has been certified platinum in Australia, gold in the UK and Germany. It has sold one million copies to date and has spawned the hitsingle “We Are the People”

Guests with full costume outfit was jumping to the swimming pool by 1am 12 minutes fireworks cerebrated themain episode of Summer Party. True to the name of ‘Summer Syndrome’ the whole beach club was in a magical aurafor the entire night… Summer Syndrome Party is going to be an annual party at Potato Head Beach Club, Bali. At 4am we started to wind everything down, at 4:30am it was Curtain call and 3500 costumed festival goers, were left with the satisfaction of being somewhere, and watching something, for the very first time. It was a full night of entertainment, the first of its kind in PHBC. The first of its kind in UpTown Oberoi. Who knows what we will have prepared for next year, but one thing is for certain. It must be bigger, as we strive to always better ourselves. So, until Aug 2012, get your evening outfit ready, for that Strictly Costume Party… Round 2.
