Guy Lawrence of Disclosure headlines TRIBE: NYE 2017

After months of suspense, the identity of our secret guest for TRIBE: NYE 2017 was revealed, as Guy Lawrence, one half of award-winning electronic duo Disclosure, emerged for the final set of the night.

Back in Bali for a third time – having previously appeared at Sunny Side Up alongside Mark Ronson, and as the first DJ to take part in our Creator Series – the British-born selector was joined by Latin-American-inspired soul and funk outfit The Cuban Brothers, our newest resident DJ Pete Herbert (UK), and a last-minute addition, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala (DJ set).

Hitting the stage just after 8pm, The Cuban Brothers delivered the kind of performance that has made them such a household name, not only in their native UK, but all over the world. Their unmistakable blend of soulful funk sounds, b-boy dance moves, and rowdy comedic aspects brought the New Year’s energy up a notch going into the evening’s proceedings.

Next up, and a surprise addition to the bill, we were also excited to welcome Kevin Parker, the lead guitarist and vocalist of Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala. An artist who has collaborated with the likes of Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson, picking up ‘Producer of the Year’ at the 2015 ARIA Awards, we were honoured to host him in Bali for his debut appearance at the Beach Club.

Meanwhile, our resident selectors, including newbie Pete Herbert (UK), Paul T, Dean Dixon and Stuart Mclellan, provided musical support throughout the night with an eclectic playlist of soulful house, pumped-up disco gems and more.

Thanks to all who came along to celebrate the coming of 2018 at Potato Head Beach Club with us. Look out for upcoming parties via Facebook and Instagram.
