Perang Pandan
(Pandan Wars)

A month-long ceremony unique to Bali’s ancient village of Tenganan, Perang Pandan (in English, Pandan Wars) is a coming-of-age ritual carried out to honour Dewa Indra, the Hindu God of War.

Perang Pandan happens on 30 June 2018, and visitors are welcome. While the people of Tenganan remain curious and gracious when it comes to outside guests, it’s important that tourists respect their time-honoured crafts, spectacles and ceremonies.

In our documentary short Potato Head travels to the annual event to learn more about the ceremony and its cultural significance to the Island of the Gods.
