Jamaican rocksteady via Dawn Penn, Womack & Womack’s ‘80s R&B, San Francisco’s new wave post-punk era in Romeo Void, and timeless classics from Carly Simon in the Australian DJ’s super-smooth sunset selections
A mainstay of the Melbourne club scene, Courtney Clarke—better known by the moniker CC:Disco!—got her start on FM Radio at the young age of 15. Her weekly show, Smoke and Mirrors, is now celebrated as the essential start to every Friday night with her seductive variations on ‘70s and ‘80s disco/Italo classics mixed with new edits. Last year the Australian powerhouse ticked off a large chunk of her bucket list at just a handful of festivals when she opened for Theo Parrish in Auckland, soundtracked the Adriatic Sea at Dimensions and Soundwaves, and made her mark between Move D and Moodymann at Strawberry Fields. She also launched her own record label, CC:EDITIONS, which debuted with a reissue of Ghanaian singer/songwriter and highlife veteran Nana Tuffour in collaboration with Kalita Records.
